How To find Time For Your Special Someone
Okay, so perhaps you've been a little too busy lately. Maybe you're tied up finishing a proposal, or you have to meet with prospective clients for your new project. You may be giving it all you've got in your work, and that's great, but you also have to remember that the last thing you want to do is to seemingly forget about your boyfriend/girlfriend or simply your partner. Your partner may exhibit admirable patience in understanding the fact that you're preoccupied with a lot of things recently, but it doesn't mean you can conveniently set aside your relationship in favor of your profession. If you don't have all the time in the world to be with your special someone, at least take some time off from your busy schedule. It will show him/her that you still value your relationship enough to exert time and effort into it. Here are a few things you can do to get to a good headstart:
Separate your priorities. There are probably a few things more annoying or exasperating for your boyfriend/girlfriend than to have you at home with your face glued in front of the laptop, or your nose buried under tons of paperwork. If you're going to go home early, then make sure you really mean it. Set aside your work for the time being and let yourself enjoy the company of your partner. Maybe drop by a nearby flower shop on the way and surprise her with red roses. Or log out at exactly six o'clock in your office (instead of staying there until midnight) so you'd have enough time to cook a special dinner for him.
Share something about your work. If you've been preoccupied with your work for days – or even weeks – on end, it might not be such a bad idea to share something about it to your boyfriend/girlfriend. Perhaps discuss with him details of the new project you're assigned to work on, or ask her opinion on the building design you're involved in. It will go a long way in helping him/her feel more important, and it will also show your partner that you want to share your professional life with him/her.
Make it up. After a considerable amount of time cooped up in your workstation, you have finally finished whatever you're working on. Now is the time to think about doing something to make it up with your partner. Perhaps go on a long vacation with him/her. You deserve a break!
